Both coolant hoses were hot, limp and the coolant in the reservoir would bubble when the car was turned off

Symptoms and overheating update: I replaced the thermostat but the coolant hoses and both coolant hoses were hot, limp and the coolant in the reservoir would bubble when the car was turned off…. but the car would not overheat.. Even after letting the car idle for 20-30 minutes and also driving for 30-45 minutes. Basically the car seemed fine except the bubbling coolant.

The hoses being limp point to a pressure problem in the coolant system. So I added a new radiator cap…. This caused huge problems. The car over heating and ran hot after 10 minutes or so. I never checked my coolant level in the reserve tank! 🙂 It was actually low because the fluid was not being circulate in the coolant system. So I had to add more antifreeze.

Problem solved…. So far at least. 🙂

Replacing a Thermostat in a Dodge Charger RT Hemi v8 5.7

Pictures to help you locate the location of the thermostat. You will need a 13mm socket which I need a metric set! 🙂

UPDATE:  I also hate to allude to my future problems…. but this did not fix my problem of overheating.  (Even though it actually might have fixed another problem?)  I believe some signs are here though? No coolant came out of the hose… plus there was never any pressure in the coolant system.

Basically the symptoms of the problem were…. sporadically running hot (what the Police department told me). I was implementing the KISS method. The thermostat was the first and the easiest fix. But I should have checked the coolant hoses. Both coolant hoses were hot, limp and the coolant in the reservoir would bubble when the car was turned off…. but the car would not overheat. After letting the car idle for 20-30 minutes and also drive for 30 minutes. Basically the car seemed fine except the bubbling coolant.

But lets be honest…. when your Charger is hot and she needs to cool down. All she really needs is some stiff hose and some pumping to cool your nerves…. or whatever. LOL 🙂

So I purchased a Police Car…. Well….

To be honest I am not sure how I did not get stung…. I got in the car multiple times and so did a Police office. Obviously the Police station has a wasp problem. Also this car obviously was not use for a couple months. LOL 🙂

This is just a PSA video and yes I was acting like a baby about the wasp…. last time I got stung I blacked out and 5-8 fireman showed up! LOL 🙂 But I got a trip to the ER.

There was a wasp nest in the door, under the fuel door, under the hood and around the trunk. Maybe everyone should just check if you purchase a car you know nothing about?  It could actually kill you.  🙂

OMG So I Purchased a 2007 Dodge Charger Pursuit…. What was I thinking! LOL :)

It was a mistake! Well maybe my wife will believe that? 🙂 The car has under 120,000 and runs hot! But the officer said it only randomly runs hot…. he also was saying that I could probably drive it an hour without any issues.  He also said the Chief of Police was driving it…. so I am hoping in this small town he would be driving an okay car!  LOL 🙂  The officer suggested replacing the thermostat…. which I already purchase.  🙂  By the way…. if you can wait…. amazon.com has some good prices on thermostats for a Hemi V8.  LINK I paid $22…. I believe from some auto parts place.

This was the first time I towed a car and this car is quite large.  It was weird to look in your rear view window and see this Police car literally riding your ass.  I also towed the car with a 2007 Honda Ridgeline and an Uhaul trailer.
